Entry 1

9/27/10

Saw the first zombie yesterday, 22:00, wasn't pretty, had both eyes torn out, so he didn't even get close enough to smell us, Took out the Crossbow and pow, one hit kill. Only way to kill the damn things is to destroy the brains. If you were wondering about some details from the last entry, the island i was referring to was Long Island. The Guide i was talking about? That was the Zombie Survival Guide. Max Brooks, the author, could be alive or dead for all we know, we just hope he followed his own advice. If we could somehow reach him, weather it be by internet, phone, or E-mail, we could have a place to run and a chance of surviving. The reason i wasn't too descriptive was because as i was writing that last entry we saw that first zombie. The fact that one has gotten here says nothing, but in my mind it does not bode well.
If more than 10 come within a half hour of each other but at least 10 feet apart that means that whoever was protecting the bridges, be the military or civilians has failed to hold that line, but one means almost nothing, it could have slipped past in the dead of night.
One thing that truly scares me though, is the question of how did it reach the this far into the island without being killed. I know for a fact that there is three other groups such as this one on the island, but we haven't been able to communicate with them yet. Could it be that all others fled? Or even worse... overrun. That could mean a very series class three outbreak, or even a class four. If class four is the case, were screwed. We are trapped an island, and the only way out is a zombie/gang infested city, or boat. We just don't know if we want to take the cruise ship and if we do, where we want to go... we'll have to decide soon though, if there are thousands of zombies out there slowly making their way towards us and we don't leave, we are dead men...
Crap!! I hear shots, got to go.

Ralph

Entry 0

It all started about a week ago. It all went by so fast i barely remember it all. First there were reports, increasing in frequency about an animal attacking and killing people. Then all of a sudden they stopped. It was like they had never existed. Next thing i know people are told to evacuate their houses, that something was coming that we couldn't fight. I don't know if i regret listening to the guide or not.
I have been divorced from my wife for Ten years now, we have no children. Its probably a good thing. I listened to the guide and gathered my group of friends, we came to my house, the best place to withstand an outbreak. Next was the difficult task of calculation. Was it a category one, two, or three outbreak? It couldn't have been a four if so we wouldn't have been there, we would probably already be on the road to our "Vacation House" in the amazon forest. But we misjudged and let fear get in the way, we deemed it a category two, all the while trying to assure ourselves this wasn't happening.
We followed the procedures of the guide, and took some action, enough to get us through a maximum of three weeks. That is until we checked the roof. We saw that the outbreak spread far beyond the block or even the island, we could see the glow of the city as it burned all the way from out here. Luckily the island was not completely taken by zombies yet, at least, not our part of the island. We were able to re-supply and stockpile for a category three outbreak.
Also of all the houses, mine was the best stocked in provisions and weapons, but the guns and food from the other houses definitely helped, as well as the dozens of crates of water bottles and the five water pumps, one for each of us. When all was said and done we had the following on hand:

  • Two M1 Garands, (one .30-06 and one .308)
  • 500 .30-60 rounds
  • 1000 .308 rounds (500 to the M1 .308 and 500 to the M14)
  • One M14
  • Two Spas-12s (illegally imported, one for backup)
  • 500 12 Gauge rounds
  • 5 .44 caliber Desert Eagle's (agianst the guides suggestion of a .45)
  • 1250 .44 caliber rounds (we each get 250)
  • Three 7.62 Sunfire suppressors (for the rifle)
  • Five .44 suppressors (for the pistols)
  • Two Excalibur Axioms w/ red dot sights
  • 400 20" 350 Grain arrows
  • Two M1 Telescopic scopes
  • One M14 Telescopic scope
  • Two M1 night vision scopes
  • One M14 night vision scope
  • Two M1 laser sights
  • One M14 laser sight
  • Five Desert Eagle laser sights
  • One Katana (For Jet, he trained with a Katana for twelve years)
  • One Wakizashi (also for Jet)
  • One Katana sheath
  • One Wakizashi sheath
  • Four Machetes
  • Five Crowbars
  • Five 8" Knives
  • Five 8" Knife sheaths
  • Five Hand Hatchets
  • Five Hand Hatchet sheaths
  • Five Swiss Army Knives
  • Five Rifle/Shotgun Back Holsters
  • Five Pistol Holsters
  • Five Backpacks
  • A gallon of water in each Backpack
  • Five water pumps/purifiers
  • Lots of non perishable foods
With all of this and more we set out barricading the house and taking stock, inventory and drawing straws for who will take watch tonight. There would have to be at least two of us on the roof, but only if the zombies breach the 12 foot chain link fence, not likely to happen for the first few weeks seeing as how far away the outbreak was, and for that matter if it could have been controlled. And god knows, that night we all prayed for that outcome with the fiercest intensity.

Ralph
